That massage you booked? It’s more than just an hour on the table—it’s an investment
in your well-being. And like any good investment, a little prep work can lead to a much
bigger payoff.
You don’t need to do much, but a few simple steps can transform a good massage into
a great one. Think of this as your insider’s guide to perfect massage preparation,
ensuring you get every ounce of relaxation and healing out of your spa treatment.
The “Dos”: Your Pre-Massage Power Moves
- DO Drink Water. Think of your muscles like sponges. A dry, brittle sponge is
tough and hard to work with. A hydrated, pliable one? That’s where the magic
happens. Sip water throughout the day.
- DO Arrive a Little Early. Rushing in at the last second with your heart racing is
the opposite of relaxation. Give yourself the gift of 15 extra minutes to check in,
use the restroom, and simply breathe in our quiet lounge. Let the calming vibes
start before your treatment does.
- DO Take a Warm Shower. It’s not just about hygiene (though we appreciate it!).
A warm shower begins to relax your muscles, making them more receptive to the
massage therapy and signaling to your body that it’s time to unwind.
- DO Speak Up (Before & During!). This is a big one. Be ready to tell your
therapist what’s going on. That crick in your neck? The stress in your shoulders?
We want to know! And during the massage, if the pressure isn’t right or you’re
chilly, please tell us. This is your time.
The “Don’ts”: A Few Things to Skip
- DON’T Eat a Huge Meal. A massage gets your circulation moving, and that
includes your digestive system. A full stomach can feel uncomfortable on the
table. A light snack is perfect, but save that big pasta dinner for after.
- DON’T Caffeinate or Caffeinate-less. A big cup of coffee will have your mind
racing when you’re trying to relax. It’s best to skip the stimulants right before your
session to allow your body to fully let go.
- DON’T Show Up Sunburnt. Ouch! Massaging sunburnt skin is painful for you
and can cause more damage. If you got a little too much sun, it’s kinder to your
skin to reschedule. We’ll understand!
- DON’T Plan a Hectic Afternoon. Try not to book your massage right before a
stressful meeting or a high-intensity workout. You want to let that blissful,
“massage-drunk” feeling last as long as possible. Protect your peace!
